4 months old day time naps (or lack of!)

my dd is 15 weeks old and sleeps through from 9pm till about 6.30-7ish with no feeds or wake ups in the night. brilliant but she goes 3 hours between naps in the day and then will only sleep for 30 mins.

I know this doesn't seem like to much of a problem (my ds didn't sleep through the night until he was 15 months and had to do cc so dd is a dream compared to him!) My problem is she gets so overtired that by 9pm she is hysterical. She has her last nap at about 4ish then no sleep at all despite our best efforts until a complete meltdown then she kind of just passes out!

I suppose my question is, how do we get her to sleep for the night earlier? Will better sleep in the day help? and if so how do we do that? have tried walking in the pram, driving her in the car but she won't sleep! I hate to see her so overtired every night Sad

have you tried a sling? it works to get my LO off in the morning. Only problem is trying to take him out and putting him in his cot- tends to wake him up. he can do an hour in there. The other prob is wanting the loo!!:)

Can you put her to bed earlier? And I mean really early say 6.30pm? DS, at a similar age, was hard to settle for bed after 7 but was clearly tired and would pass out at 9/10pm ish. Pulling his bedtime way earlier worked really well - the first night we tried!!

Can you get to her just before the 30 minutes and feed her back to sleep for another cycle? I had to do this with my ds - he slept 45 minutes every 3 hours, but I could feed him back to sleep (sometimes I'd do it twice) after each sleep cycle for one long nap a day.

Thanks for the replies. Just got back from walking dd in the pram and she's had her usual 30 mins sleep despite walking for over an hour Confused

Have tried the sling spicecrystal. this worked when she was really tiny but doesn't seem to put her to sleep now Sad

Will try putting her to bed earlier Iggly although she still needs a couple of really big feeds before sleep which keep her awake. Have tried feeding her more during the day (she's bf and won't take a bottle) but this just makes her sick. A lot Sad

She's an awkward little madam Grin

would try feeding her back to sleep RitaMorgan but she has reflux and i'm scared any extra will just cause more projectile vomiting! Tried to get something from the dr for the reflux but because she's putting on weight he won't give me anything.

DS had reflux too. I saw three different GPs before getting meds to tackle it.

Napping in the day went to pot around 4 months anyway and 45 mins was about it except if we got lucky in a sling. He didn't like lying flat in his pram. Can you try a pushchair with a slightly raised setting now she's older? I also had more success with the first two naps of the day (after 45-60 mins of being awake) than the last ones (more like 90 mins of being awake). Had to be in a dark room or had to cover his head with a muslin when in the sling as he was nosey!!!
