How to drop the 5am feed?

DS is 4.5 months. He slept through the night occasionally for a bit, then his sleep went crazy - waking up every couple of hours & getting up for the day at 5.30am - possibly 4m sleep regression. He has settled down again now but wakes for a feed around 4-5am. I am sure this is habit rather than need as he doesn't take much, and doesn't seem particularly hungry when he wakes up for the day around 7-8am (

When is his last feed before that one?

10.30pm-7am seems like quite a long time for an unweaned, breastfed 4 month old to go without a feed. I wouldn't give water either.

You could try pushing that feed back by 30 minutes every night until it gets to 7am?

Leave well alone! Our DD slept through until4 months when it all went horribly wrong and now 5 months later we still have many wake-ups per night. If you drop the 5am feed you could end up with him being up for the day at 6. Please, for the love of all things baby don't do a thing and enjoy teh sleep before the next growth spurt/regresion changes everything again!

Zimm is right - when ds was having a nightfeed he slept in til 7-8am. Now he sleeps through he's up for the day at 6am latest!

I don't think it is habit rather than need.

A tiny baby with a tiny stomach must need food at 5, if they've not been fed since 10.

and if he goes to sleep straight afterwards, then you can sleep too, and have a couple of extra hours afterwards.
