hi all, im looking for reassurance/advice. My 9 week old does not nap much during the day. He has napped in his cot a few times and managed two hours at a time but it takes half hour to get him to sleep so have given up on that for now. I have him sleep on me sometimes and usually time a walk for one of his naps but he's only sleeping for 20 mins in his buggy and less than an hour on me. He even woke up on the way home in the car yesterday after 20 minutes! he's sleeping quite well at night and is now going 11pm to 8am at night, ending up in bed with me and dh from 4amish. I am a bit worried as believe that good naps equal good sleep at night.

Have you tried to swaddle and white noise? Also shush pat is good at this age. Shushing quite loud past baby's ear and patting in a heartbeat type rhythm quite firmly. Try to put baby down whilst still awake and continue to comfort so he gets to like his little bed and getting to sleep by himself (this last bit is what I WISH I had done!), not rushing to pick baby up if he stirs is something else I should have done. A routine might also help him to get used to going down at rough times in the day in his bed. Just some ideas

Thanks Sedgie. I've tried shush pat both on me and in his cot. That's what takes me half hour before he'll sleep in his cot.
I know I should persevere with the cot sleeps but I get so disheartened if I try so hard and he still doesn't nap in his cot!
He's in a routine of sorts, waking and feeding at almost the same times each day, it's just the naps that are a nightmare!
