How long does the 4month sleep regression last?

My DS is 19wks at 15wks he caught some tummy bug which was awful and meant he started pooing all the time and waking several times in the night where he would cry inconsolably and just not want to be put back down to sleep and was just really unhappy. Anyway thankfully I think we are through this as his poos are back to normal and he is back to being his happy self.

The problem we have now is that he appears to have sleep regressed and wakes every 2hours for a feed. After the BF feed, which can be anything from 10-40min, he will go back down in his cot and sleep for 2hrs when he wakes again. We have noticed that he is feeding less in the day although do keep offering him BF milk the world seems to much more interesting so he appears to catch up on his feeds at night. Before he was ill he would only wake up once in the night but now it hand be 3-4 times.

I have heard from other mums about the 4month sleep regression and I just wondered how long it lasts and if anyone has any good advice for surviving it or how to get my DS back to sleeping and feeding better.

DS is 5 months... the 4 month regression lasted one or two weeks. He then slept through the night. Now he's going through another one! The 4 month one didn't affect his naps, only night time. This one is affecting all sleep. I think regression affects babies periodically thoughout the first year and probably beyond. You probably don't want to hear it, but teething, illness, growth/ development spurts and introducing solids can all contribute to sleepless, unsettled nights - also known as regression!
