29 degrees at night...what should my 5 week old sleep in? worried about overheating

Hello,

Living in Mexico and it's getting v hot. Right now at 8.20pm it is 29 degrees and i've just put my DD to sleep. she has been sleeping in a little vest body and 1 tog mothercare sleeping bag but am thinking that it is getting too hot for this. Mothercare suggests your baby wears this for up to 23 degrees with the sleeping bag. I'm wondering whether it is best to just put her down in her little vest and no sleeping bag, or just her sleeping bag with no clothes underneath. Right now I put her down in her vest, no sleeping bag but it just doesn't seem cosy enough for sleep time so i put a thin cotton sheet over her too.

What do you think? I am worried about her overheating, but also want her to feel snug enough to be sleepy. Also, the temperature drops in the night, I expect tonight it will drop to about 26 degrees....hmm! First time mum with no idea!!

Thoughts and suggestions reeeally welcome!

I'm in Japan, where the night temperature doesn't drop below 25 deg.C during the summer months.

When my DCs were babies, we used a very light sheet or sometimes a towel to cover them at night. They had a light vest and nappy on.

A sleeping bag sounds a bit too hot...

Ah it is tricky, in really hot weather I did 0.5 tog grobag (just cotton sheet) and nappy or just nappy if no cool breeze at all.

At 5 weeks you may find your baby wants to be wrapped in something for comfort. I would get a 0.5tog and sleep them in that and just a nappy. Until then I would use the 1.0tog and just a nappy. I personally don't like sheets because they can wriggle down into them.
I'm in the UK and our house is currently 23, not 29 this is just my opinion, but I have no experience.

Hi. My DS slept in a 21 degree room with no cover last night, very happily. He had a vest on but nothing else. Might be worth trying him without a cover?

When it was really hot last summer our DC (born in June) slept just in a sleeveless vest, covered with a cotton sheet or muslin. She was never one for being swaddled.
