CC when did it start working?

I decided to do CC with DS (6mo) as he was waking up every night once around 4 ish and gradually did not seem to be that hungry.
We have been going four nights or so now and although he does not really cry when he wakes up, he sort of calls out/protests and still does that for quite some time (about 45 mns last night).
Honestly I thought that by now, we would have started to see some results. Was I being naive? How long did it take you for those of you who have done a similar thing?

DS took two days, Friend's DD a week.

From what others have said on here it might take longer/be less effective doing CC in the early hours compared to at bedtime or earlier in the night. Because your DS has already had the majority of his nights sleep he won't be that tired.

Let us know how you get on though as my DS is similar age and sleep pattern to yours and I was mulling over when to try and cut out the 4am feed and try and just re-settle him.

Good luck Smile

We took 2 days and ds slept ever since and he is 17 in May Grin!

This makes sense Ellabella. CC in the evening took only two days. Will persevere and share progress if any. The annoying thing is that the trigger to start CC at 4am and stop the bottle is that DS would really settle on his own after being fed, he sort of wanted to fall asleep again in your arms. Very sweet but not really in the mood to rock mister to sleep when a couple of days before he was perfectly happy to go back down again without a fuss. Fingers crossed for tonight!

Well it looks like the end might be in sight (am I jinxing it?). This morning we've had a mini yelp (2mns max) at 5.30 and then nothing till 6.30. yeah!

Oooh, ElsieR, what happened after Friday night? Did things continue to get better? Hope you are now enjoying an unbroken nights sleep and a lie in until at least 7am Wink Grin

The early morning wake up is tricky - we left DS a bit longer each time until it was "something to six" which we decided was morning (sort of). If it was "something past five" then a different story!! He's great now, 22 months old and slept 7pm - 8am last night. His little sister, 10 days old, has now taken the baton from him! Grin

well well well, it was all going swimmingly. He was clearly doing well (read: it was working, a mini yelp every other night or nothing) but then we've been away for four nights and we basically had to sort of go back to feeding him at night because we could not let him cry (we were staying in a hotel). The first night in the hotel we did try, but he was not going to settle and to be fair, in a new environment, we felt that it would have been a bit harsh.
Anyway, we're back now and I am sort of not sure about tonight because we put him straight to bed when we got home and he had a nightmare shortly after being put to bed. I think he was a bit confused. Fair enough.
One thing for sure is that we are back on normal program tomorrow.
How is it going for you Ellabella?
Lozario, I do like you, if he wakes up around 6 ish, it's the morning.....

Hiya Elsie,
Good to hear that things were going well until your trip away. We have not been brave enough to stay away yet for just that reason of upsetting his sleep routine. Hope your DS can regain ground once he settles back to being at home.

We are having a bit of a blip with sleep at the moment. Had a couple of unsettled nights with what seemed like teething. Since then DS has started not settling back to sleep after his early morning feed around 4am! This morning it was 3.30am. He used to go back to sleep no problem and has now seemd to have lost that ability. I really hope he can get back on track as it is FAR TOO EARLY to start the day then.

Not too sure how to deal with it at the moment. Just hoping that it will pass soon Smile (yawn)

ElsieR · 21/04/2011 10:02

Well that's when we decided to let him cry at this time. After the dodgy first night back from holidays, he's now going through the night, yeah!
