DD likes to sleep on her front...

DD is seven months and has just started rolling over efficiently. She self settles well in the evening, but when I go to check on her at various points, she has rolled onto her stomach and is fast asleep. Should I just leave her to it, or turn her over and hope it doesn't disturb her too much?
TIA

Leave her to it, SIDS advice is to put her down on her back but if she rolls over leave her. She's 7mo so well past the high risk age.

My 5.5 month old is in her own room, we moved her last week. She has been sleeping on her side for quite a while now. This morning we have found her fast asleep on her front. She can easily roll back to front but has only rolled front to back a couple of times. Sorry to hijack but should I leave her?

NoTeaForMe my DD did the same and if she woke on her tummy used to cry for us to turn her over before she learnt to roll from front to back easily.

As long as she has good head control and can lift herself up she will come to no harm on her tummy. Very annoying turning them back though until they get the hang of rolling properly :)

Thanks for the replies, I'll leave her to it then, she can lift her head far up and can easily roll onto her back if she wants too. It must be doing some good, she slept through 8.30-5.30 last night, first time ever!

Thanks, sorry for hi-jacking Ninja.

She has rolled onto her front this evening again, we rolled her back in her sleep just in case and she has rolled herself back onto her front again!! She can lift her head well and will be able to move her head side to side but she can't really roll front to back! Reassure me that she really will be ok!! Aside from staying awake and holding her on her side/back there's not really anything I can do!

Thanks

NoTea, DS was the same. He hadn't mastered rolling both ways but started flipping onto his front at night. We left him, made sure there was nothing in his cot and he was fine. He soon learnt how to roll properly in the day. Now at 18 months he likes to be put down on his front.

oh yes, leave 'em to it. With DD1, the day she could roll over and sleep on her tummy was the day we all stopped going mad with sleep exhaustion. She slept about a million times better that way. Being my PFB, I did worry. With DS, now 6 months, I am willing him every day to roll on to his tummy Smile

She does seem to sleep well on her front, and I love the fact that she has found her very own comfy position. She has now developed a really nasty cold, streaming nose and horrible cough. We raised her mattress today for a nap and she'll have it like that for tonight. Do you think that will be ok for her sleeping on her front? My husband isn't sure, but doesn't know why!

Thanks

when my DD was a newborn she would only sleep on her front, i just propped her up with a small pillow and slept fine. aged 6 she still sleeps on her front :)

Thanks Lady We have karvol and we bought some chest rub stuff today....hopefully it will help, she'd just started sleeping through and now the last 2 nights she's been up 3 hours a night. I'm not feeling well either so it's all fun here!

Thanks for all your advice.

Tummy sleepers have a natural advantage when they have colds, because they don't get as much postnasal drip and associated coughing. Even now at age 3, I will flip my DD over if she's coughing a lot in her sleep. Usually sorts her out.
