Has been sleeping between 1.5 hours and 3 hours EVERY afternoon for months I was just feeling all smug and happy and suddenly three days ago he just refused to sleep.

He's on steroids and antibiotics for a chest infection although he is much better now.

Could it be the meds? Or is it normal for them just to suddenly need less sleep?!?

none of mine napped after 18months (unless we were in the car or something) so yes, they do stop daytime sleeping sometime soon! but - it sounds a bit of a coincidence that it's happened just about the same time as being ill - perhaps he's been out for the count for a few days and is just a bit more bouncy now? might still start napping again if you're lucky

My 22mth DS2 is same age. He has started also to not want an afternoon nap, literally within the last few weeks. It's hit & miss, but generally he only sleeps now if we go out somewhere & he'll have a car catnap. I have no chance of putting him down in the cot.
It does mean he's more weary come 5pm but then bedtime is welcomed.
Hope this helps :)

Yup, they stop napping round about then. It's a real shame as I used to look forward to a bit of peace and quiet but there you go.

My DD never napped if she was ill so could just be that. Although she dropped naps completely at 20 months. She rarely even falls asleep in the car now (2.5). It made bedtimes a lot easier as well so that's a bonus.

Noooooo!!!!

I'm not giving up! Taking the bugger to Messy Play to tire him out this morning, maybe that will help. I need my cup of tea and sit down in the afternoon!!!

Grumpla - I did find that after she dropped her nap she would (occasionally) fall asleep on the sofa after lunch if I put a film on and tucked her up with a blanket. That was a lifesaver while I got used to not having a moment's peace a bit of time while she napped.

Don't think it would work now though :(
