Tears before EVERY nap!

Hi,

My LO is 14 weeks old and has always hated naptimes. About 4 weeks ago I implemented a nap routine - took her into her darkened nursery, cuddles, put on mobile, then play her white noise, turn off the light, kiss then leave the room. She always has a cry before she drops off - 5-10 minutes which I thought would disappear with time - however it's now been 4 weeks and she STILL cries everytime. I'm really thinking I need to change her routine - it can't be good for her to cry every naptime - she can only be awake for 1.5 hours at a time so there's quite a few naps everyday - any advice gratefully received I don't think I can stand the tears anymore!

Thanks

Mine does the same - I don't think it hurts them, just part of the routine!!

When you say cry, do you mean hard, full on crying or broken whinging cry? My DS has whinging on/ off cry for five or ten minutes too most of the time. I don't think it's unusual as it's their way of winding down from earlier excitement.

But if you're worried have you tried bringing forward naps by ten minutes to make sure you catch her 'window' and she's not overtired?

Hmm I'd say on a scale of 1-5 with 5 being the worst, the crying is 3...

Thanks - I might try bringing her naps forward to 1 hour 20 - her tired signs are so hard to spot and sometimes she has none at all!

I rock my 14wk dd to sleep for naps and even then she cries every time, just an absolute nap fighter. Have been considering trying to get her to sleep herself in her cot but not sure I can face the battle!

I'm going to try an experiment today, leave her and see if she just goes herself in her chair or wherever she is - I fear she's just going to get overtired and grouchy but gonna give it a go! She had 12 hours last night and a 2 hour nap first thing this morning so shouldn't really need much more if the 15 hours a day thing is to be believed at her age!
