dd went to sleep on her own but now won't

She is nearly seven weeks so it is early days yet but she was going to sleep on her own up until now. I was delighted as ds was a nightmare to get to sleep. However she now won't do it and has to be rocked/fed to sleep and as soon as I put her down she wakes up again. What has happened?! Any ideas?

Just to add she doesn't really cry when I put her down more yells out in anger. I don't like to leave her like that though so end up picking her back up. Often she then falls asleep on me. DS was always like this but I thought I was onto a winner with dd as she was always quite happy to be put down to sleep before now.

Hugs hun, very frustrating. But as you have already said she is still tiny.

There are a couple of methods you could try.

Firstly though, you need to be putting her down awake. Weither its fully awake or very nearly asleep (which is prob the best option right now)

You can put her down, and pat/rub her in a nice calming rhythmic pattern. (Aston she gets used to this you progress by keeping hand still, and then moving hand away) and saying shhhhhh, which enables her to hear you yet, its calming and will help to soothe her. Don't pick her up, unless she's very distressed, and just continue your sootheing. Will take longer to begin with but she will get used to it.

Or you can put her down (very nearly asleep) and leave her until she becomes upset. Pick her up. As soon as she stops crying. Put her back down again. Becomes upset, pick her up. Calms down, put her down etc.

Personally I prefer the first method, but its very much .personal preference.

Thanks, I am having some success with that although not everytime as sometimes when I pick her up she passes out straight away on me! I will keep trying though!
