Is thrashing about in sleep RESTFUL for babies?

My 14 DS sleeps well and can look and seem very peaceful for ages; but he also thrashes around a lot, cries out, moves, waves his legs etc. Sometimes I can tell its wind, but other times I reckon its him moving between different sleep cycles.

Is he actually getting any rest during these times? I don't wake him. Should I? And will it calm down, or am I destined to have a very noisy fitful baby at night?

Both mine were like this. I think it is normal. Maybe ask hv if you are worried.

He's probably dreaming :) Is he 14 days/weeks/months?

I've started to swaddle my baby again because of this. But I think she was waking herself up, seems to help. The woombie is what I've started to use (5 months) allows them to move a bit whilst still keeping them secure as has a bit of stretch in the fabric

Thanks all. He's 14 weeks! I should have said.

I might buy the Woombie. I've been using a grobag at night. Sometimes a swaddle in day. Do you think mix and matching is confusing for him? I wondered whether being consistent with what they wear to sleep is important?
