Hours awake at 10 weeks

Just a quick poll as my DD is currently asleep on me and I am typing one handed.

How long does/ did your child stay awake between naps at this age...can't reach question mark key!

My tot only seems to manage one hour, sometimes 40 minutes then she is grumpy and gazing into space.

This afternoon after approximately 2 hours sleeping, waking at 3m she was back to sleep by 4pm. All we did in between was feed/ change/ chat/ about 2 minutes of TT and about 5 mins of me trying to play. Most of the activities I tried to initiate were declined in favour of being carried like a sack of spuds over my shoulder.

Shouldn't she be awake more/ wanting to do more yet?

no, dd2 could only manage 1hr for aaaaaggges. it is a bit tedious, spending all your time settling them to sleep, but better that than letting them get into an overtired frenzy.

dd2 is now 19 weeks and can easily do 2 hours awake, more sometimes.

I've just realised my DS can only stay awake 1 hr 15 mins before he gets seriously overtired, so you're not alone!

As I also have a 2 year old DD, it's very easy for me to miss the signs and when DS gets overtired he gets in a right state - screaming and almost impossible to settle. He twitches a lot which stops him from getting the sleep he needs when he's exhausted.

In particular, he seems to get tired very quickly in the morning, and can need a nap 1 hour after getting up, and can sleep for about 90 minutes.

It seems if he gets lots of sleep in the first part of the day, he's better in the afternoon. and will self settle if he stirs during a nap but is still tired. If he's got overtired by lunchtime, the rest of the day can be a screaming fiasco.

I have only just worked out why he was quite so screamy Blush

Think it sounds pretty normal to me. Is she bright and alert for a while when she is awake?
