Could a biscuit be the cause of disturbed nights?

My DS is nearly 2 and up until a few months ago was a pretty good sleeper.

Recently he has started waking in the middle of the night for no reason and is waking at around 5.30-6am. I'd just put this down to sleep regression even though some days the tiredness is pushing me to edge of lunacy!

A friend lent me Gina Ford's sleep book last night. I've never been a fan of her regime but noticed there was a case study of a child around my son's age who's sleep suddenly became disrupted due to being given two choc buttons after supper.

It then occurred to me that his nightly treat of a digestive biscuit around 6pm (goes to bed at 7pm) might be the cause of the sleepless nights.

I know I'm a bad mother even giving him a biscuit before bed but it can't be that simplistic can it?

You think you're a bad mother for giving him a digestive? Give over.

Try not giving the biscuit for a few nights and see if his sleep improves, then you'll know. It seems unlikely that a biscout would cause broken sleep, but if Gina Ford reckons 5g of chocolate can cause sleep problems, who am I to argue?

Well I do take what Gina says with a pinch of salt.

I suppose it's a case of have straws, will clutch at the moment.

Does seem a bit coincidental that all this has started since I started this evening snack business. Perhaps I should've just stuck to milk instead.

Is your son still having a daytime sleep, if so perhaps he needs to cut down on that ?
Personally, I think it is also worth cutting out the chocolate for a few nights to see if that helps.
