does anyone seriously wake their baby in the morning?

after some brief respite with only 2 night wakings from 12-17 weeks, 18 week dd2 is now up to her usual trick of waking 1-2 hourly. disturbed nights mean she sometimes sleeps later in the morning.

a few people have suggested getting her on to a loose routine, including waking her in the morning. i just cannot face this after a long night, even though dd1 is usually up by 6.30, as at least it means i can get dd1 ready in relative peace. has anyone found that waking their baby has helped them get onto a loose routine, and improve sleep? i'm not doing it without good evidence!

I have definately found that waking baby in the morning and cutting back on day time sleep improves night time sleep and long term means that LO understands difference between night and day. Understand the exhaustion though - so I don't think there is any law saying you have to do this straight away!

thanks fergald. i had been working on the "sleep begets sleep" theory, but i know the other side of the coin i the idea of limiting daytime sleep.

i think i'm too sleep deprived to work out what i think Grin.
