Bed guards for co-sleeping

Hi,

DS has ocasionally co-slept with us but not on a regular basis, however he's now 7.5 months and I'm too tired to get up and down to feed him constantly in the night. Generally, he starts off in his own bed til about 1am and then comes in with me. About 3, I'll put him back in his cot and then he's back in with us at 5 til we all get up.

I'm thinking it would just be easier if he stayed in with us, but he's more mobile now and I worry about him rolling out of the bed, and don't like sleeping whilst trying to encircle my arms around him.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a bed guard?

Also, DH is worried about him crawling out of bed, but generally if DS is awake them I'm awake, it's just if he moves about in his sleep. What are other ppl's experiences of co-sleeping with crawlers?

TIA

We also co-slept in a similar haphazard fashion, and we used a Tomy folding bed guard, which worked really well, and is portable for overnight visits.

We didn't really have any problems with DS crawling out of bed. Once he could move around properly we taught him how to get off the bed safely, which he picked up really quickly. There was a relatively short period when he was learning to stand / walk, and I was worried he was going to throw himself over the top of the guard, but that was while we were awake and just required a bit more vigilance - I'm not aware that he ever went exploring while I was asleep

Thanks Conflake, we did have a look at the tomy guards, but DH had the same concern as you with regard to him throwing himself over it, but I think you're right, I'd be awake if he was moving that much.

Any idea's on whether we need to take off our memory foam mattress topper? I've been thinking that if he rolls over and can't breath then he'll ust turn himself back over now, but am unsure?

Have you seen these ones www.bed-guards.co.uk
We are using them for the occasional co-sleep as you can just pop them under the sheets as and when required. Brill for overnight stays too cos lightweight and no twiddling under the beds to fix it in place. Fully recommend
