Swaddling older baby -5 months- ideas on how?

I started dream feeding my dd this week instead of letting her get me up. I was shocked last night as I went to pick her up for her feed to see her flaying around, really really dramatically.

She must have been coming into light sleep, her arms were all over the place for what seemed several minutes, then she was disturbing herself rubbing and scratching her face, turning head from side to side trying to settle then the flaying again....

I swaddle with a cot sheet one arm out (she had got the other free last night) she used to have really bad startle reflex as a tiny baby, looks like this is an issue and perhaps contributing to the night wakings I'm getting still.

Any ideas please. She's a 75th centile baby so quite big now (would guess at 16-17lb)

Hi sedgie, you can get woombies in 3-6 mth sizes off amazon eg this one

Thanks plasticspoon, I was just looking at these and notice that they do a convertible one for when you are ready to start letting them have their arms out again. Its just quite a bit of £££ if she's not going to like it, on the other hand if she does and - sleeps - it would be altogether priceless!!

My dd is nearly 6mnths and absolutely loves her woombie, but then I started her on them when she was about 2 months - at some point soon I was thinking that she might be too old for swaddling, so I'm not sure what to suggest. (Bit unhelpful Blush)
But I will say that if you DC is a fidgeter, as mine is, then she will still fidget in a swaddle. I'm constantly finding dd at the bottom of the cot, or with all the blankets off of her...

We used the smaller one till very recently and they're really good - nice thin cotton too so no worries about overheating.

offmyrocker thanks!! I'm going to get one but...Having not seen these in the flesh any chance you could advise? I'm not sure if I should get the big baby (up to 19lb) or the Mega baby (up to 20lb) I reckon she is about 17lb (getting weighed this pm.), I don't want her to grow out of it too fast, but don't want to get one that is way too big and I decide its no good.

I don't have any stores nearby to call, I've tried calling online stores but not getting any answers yet.

No worries, I've bought the 6 month mega baby one as she weighed in at nearly 18lb so hopefully this will work and last her a bit.
