22 months - slept through for first time last night!

Just thought I would share the fact that my 22 month old slept through for the first time ever last night! We coslept for a long time, then when we weaned her from breastfeeding at Christmas she went into her own room on a mattress on the floor (double so I could join her to cuddle her to sleep if she woke). She has woken up one or twice a night for the past few months but last night she slept from 7.30-7.30! Unfortunately I did not as I kept waking wondering why she hadn't woken up - d'oh!..
So for those who don't want to sleep train and practise cosleeping etc I just wanted to let you know that they do and will sleep through on their own when they are ready.
Many times I have doubted that she ever would. However I know this may be a one off and may be back to normal tomo!

Well done! And this is a great encouragement for anyone struggling.

DD didn't sleep through until 12 months, then started waking again from 18 months until the new year.

You don't realise how sleep-deprived you are until you emerge from the fog or have a bad night again.

Long may it continue for you!

Thanks for posting- that's very encouraging.

Has your daughter done it again since Cosmogirl?

My 20mo son slept 7.30-6.20 last night which is an extreme rarity. Just wondered if I can start to hope this may become the norm.

Hi Quenelle. I am pleased to say that she has about 3 times since. Last night was 8.30-8.30 and I slept well thankfully too so must be getting used to it. Congrats on your son sleeping through - hope it continues for you.

Crikeybadger - glad the post helped. Good luck. The mattress on the floor has really worked well as for a long time she needed cuddling and comforting to sleep and then back to sleep if she woke in the middle of the night and it allowed me to do this while being comfortable too.

That's great Cosmogirl. Long may it continue.

My son has done it a few times, never for 12 hours but anything after 6am we consider simply brilliant.

DH and I would love it to become the norm. Not so bothered about during the week because we both have to get up for work. But we dream of getting up at a civilised hour on a Saturday and Sunday.

yay! we did this too and it's good for people to hear that you don't HAVE to sleep train.
My 26 month DD is one of the worst sleepers I know of and even she regularly sleeps through once or twice a week now which is heaven, trust me!
