help me! 14 week old waking every 50 minutes

My DS is 14 weeks and has been waking every 50 ish minutes for the last week, before that if he went for 2-3 hours I would feel lucky.
Last night I was lying awake for the first 50 minutes. He starts to stir and rub his face- I used to think hew was rubbing his eyes but he seems to be rubbing his forehead which is dry and I wonder if it is possibly itchy?
He wants boob in his mouth when he wakes up- or at least that is the easiest way to calm him. I don't think I want to use a dummy because I don't want using one to creep into daytime, and then into toddler years etc. I'm also haven't expressed milk because my mind is so mashed (for want of a better word!) from lack of sleep that the thought of going out to buy bottles, sterilising equipment, pump etc and then working out how to use it all seems SUCH a nightmare- I'd rather just flop a boob out.
At around 3am (used to be 5am but has crept earlier) he gets unhappy, squirms and then with a bit of help and positioning from DH (who seems to have the magic touch) farts like a trooper. That obviously is painful for him.

I am breastfeeding. DS has also 'clicked' from birth- I've very successfully breastfed my DD before with out this being a problem, and as a devoted breastfeeder I've tried everything possible to stop his clicking (really, everything!) and come to the conclusion that it is just something he does. It seems to getting a bit better with 'age', as he gets bigger. But he still loses suction a bit.
Please help me, I am so so tired. Any suggestions? x

If he is losing suction and clicking then please check its not tongue tie: my DC4 had it and although feeding wasn't really painful, the clicking and lack of suction was there. I was lucky and it was spotted and sorted within his first 2 weeks.

Just a thought. DC4 is also a fartypants and seems to cause him pain: bf aswell. Slapping some olive oil on dry skin can help too. HTH..

Are you sure, absolutely sure, it's not a tongue tie? The reason I ask is that my DS was checked by 3 miwives and 3 BF counsellors and they all missed his posterior tie. Less common type but can cause clicking you describe.
