Best blackout lining material (maybe not the right topic area!)

Hi, my son's bedroom window is very draughty in the winter and has very small opening windows so very warm in the summer. It is also on the sun rising side of the house in the morning and can get very bright. AT the moment we have some blackout linings that came from argos - a kind of plasticky material - and they have been brilliant during the winter months at keeping the draught out. However Im concerned they are not going to let much air in in the summer months and so make the room too warm. As he is a very early riser I need something that will keep the light out in the summer as well as letting the air in!!

What is the best blackout lining fabric mix to look for? Is it possible to get ready made curtains using this?

I don't know if there is any fabric that will work as you want it to, I think if it lets air in it will probably let light in too?

We use velcro blackout that you can open slightly so in the summer we just leave the window open and pull back the blackout a bit to let air in. Not ideal but our curtains are blackout lined as well so it doesn't let too much light in.

We bought the velcro stuff from www.easyblindsonline.co.uk/ it's really good we use it in our bedroom as well!
