DS having spasms at night.

Hello all.

My DS is 10mo and is a thoroughly rubbish sleeper at the best of times, but last night I decided to co-sleep as i was desperate for kip and noticed that he was spasming.

I'm not sure if it was stomach cramps or something else; my first thought was worms.

He "climbed" up the breastfeeding pillow that was propped against the headboard and ended up a foot above our heads!Shock

He did have bad nappy rash this morning.

Has anyone had any experience of this?

Could be tummy ache/bad wind - could be reacting to some foods you've given him. DS got tummy ache and wind at night - usually around 2-3 am. He can't have dairy or soya as intolerant. Wind culprits are things like green veg, too much bread in the afternoon, spicy foods, leeks, onions... Worth giving your DS some peppermint and fennel tea after his tea - a couple of teaspoons - can help settle his tummy.

Ooh thanks you.

He didn't have any cows milk yesterday, but he did have bread and a lot of carrots.

I may try cutting out bread for a few days. He had a wee bit of very, very mild curry.

If his not sleeping could be helped by cutting out foods our lives would be changed!

Haha I know the feeling! We have success by keeping his dinners very plain and he doesn't have much green veg - which is bad but it really gives him tummy trouble. I make up for it by giving stuff like sweet potato, parsnip, swede,'sweetcorn and squash instead. Hopefully as he gets older he'll tolerate it a bit better.
