Argh, suggestions for night-time nappy?

10mo DS is getting wet almost every night at the moment. We've always used the Nature Babycare ones and he is in the size 4 ones for day and night.

I think the problem is that he has suddenly become more active in the cot and, weirdly, sleeps a lot of the night with his legs up on the side of the cot.

So we tried the Huggies Superdry ones last night but I had to change him at 4am. Its such a shame as he sleeps really well but it takes ages to resettle him after I've changed him.

Has anyone got any better suggestions? What worked well for you (well, your DC but you know what I mean Smile).

Pampers BabyDry is what we've always trusted. I also tend to buy DD a size smaller for night time, to ensure a tight fit.

I also found that DD's nappies got better as we fed less at night. Even after stopping BF at 14 months she would wake for bottles of milk at night, and we gave them to her for a quiet life.

When we stopped the night feeds, offering her water instead, her nappies got much dryer and she slept a lot better.

Best I have come up with is tescos ultra dry and changing him once a night but sometimes this isn't enough. Pampers baby dry had him wet 4 hours later, haven't tried huggies yet. He only feeds once at night so I give up. He was fine til 3 weeks ago.

Oh it's such a nightmare isn't it? It's bizarre but DS was usually dry when he was still having 1/2 a bottle of milk at night but we stopped that just before Xmas. He seems to be wetter since we stopped the feed!

I will perservere with the Huggies as we have a whole pack to get through. I'll also make sure it's as tight as I can get away with.

Any other suggestion?

I actually tried a size up! My thinking was to allow for maximum soakage... We haven't had any leaks since. I also tried a couple of brands but stayed with Pampers Baby Dry in the end.

We use Pampers during the day but Lidl Toujours at night - they have never leaked. They are a bit 'stiffer' than others but they work a treat. And cheap too!

What about putting the disposable boosters they put in washable nappies? Would that help? I'm sure mothercare/boots sells them. You put them inside a size up nappy.

I had the same issue with my now 10m DD. Going up a size for night time did the trick for us. DD has now gone up to that size in the day now too, and yet we haven't had any leaks yet, but we have also dropped night feeds so that might be why...

I use Sainsburys or Tescos own brands as I found them to be better (and far cheaper) than the leading brands.

ethelina · 31/01/2011 12:08

Well Tescos ultra dry have worked best over the last week but still changing him at 1am. Going to google the boosters now.

Mull · 01/02/2011 21:08

Think I'll look into the boosters as well. We had a dry night last night but think that was just luck.

I just can't believe how much he is moving around the cot now. Up to about 3 weeks ago he had hardly ever moved!

It's a common problem then, and not just us, lol! We used reusable nappies during the day, but no matter what we tried (extra boosters and different wraps) they still leaked at some point. We've given in and use pampers baby dry for night time and fingers crossed, they've been great so far. Good luck :)

try a bigger size nappy or kushies nappy.dont have to change at all during the night it goes over the original nappy. i got ours from amazon.

I like Lidl nappies. We normally use cloth, but have some disposables at the ready just in case, and have never had a leak with Lidl nappies, whereas I wasn't at all impressed with Pampers.

Zimm · 03/02/2011 16:39

I use nature babycare at night with my reusable nappy wrap over the top - works a treat! Mine are called 'pop and gro' if you want to goggle them.

We have same problem with 8 month old ds. Have found Pampers baby dry or simply dry the best so far - seem to have less wetting during the night. Read somewhere that the absorbancy increases in nappies as you go up sizes, so we have gone to 4+ as it says absorbancy greater but size the same.
