When my DD didn't gain weight in first 2 weeks dr had me wake her every 2 hours in the day and 3 hours at night. Now it's 3 hours all round. At 4kg it's 4 hours and 5 kg it's as long as DD likes iirc.

Here's the rub. If DD won't fall asleep fast enough after a feed even with rocking, shhh pat, just leaving her, removing all stimulation etc she can be awake for 3 or 4 or 5 hours and is exhausted. Am I supposed to then wake her up cos it's feeding time or let her sleep cos she's exhausted?

My other question is now she is gaining weight no problem can I just leave her at night and wake her when she asks for a feed? Her crib is in our room.

Thanks in advance.

I'm a bit confused. At 1 month I was just feeding whenever they woke up and feeding until they went back to sleep again. Does yours not wake up?

She wasn't because she was jaundiced and ever so dozy. Now she is waking up when she's hungry. I'm just worried shell miss feeds and not gain enough weight again.

I would feed her whenever she asks and for as long as she wants. If you're awake and she hasn't fed for a whil you could try offering, but I suspect that if the jaundice is better she'll be waking up at least as often, if not more often than you wnat soon! Hope it goes well
