DD too big for Moses basket but too small for cot!

Hi, my 12 week DD is becoming too big for her Moses basket where she sleeps at night. Her cot is too big for our room and is in the nursery, but there's no room in the nursery for me to sleep with her! Can see myself in a sleeping bag on the landing... Really don't want to leave her alone at night - is 12 weeks too young? Also any advice on how to make the transition from Moses to cot as painless as possible? she's not great at going down at the best of times and rarely self settles - I usually end up rocking her to sleep and then putting her down and then ssh patting if she wakes up. Any ideas? Is she old enough for PUPD as I read that it can overstimulate young babies? How exactly does it work? Thanks for any advice!

We used to put the Moses basket in the cot a few nights before the dcs went straight into the cot
mine were in their own room from the get go so not sure about own room thing

Travel cot? We used one as our cot proper is a cot bed and too small for our room.

Otherwise, a crib rather than cot/moses?

Have you thought about a crib or a travel cot? DS2 is now 6.5 months and still in with us due to no bedroom till we move house. WE managed to borrow a crib but once he was too big for that as we have no room in our bedroom for a cotbed or cot we went for a travel cot.

The transition has been fine, he was much happier as he had more space and wasn't waking himself (and us!) up everytime he moved. Being in the same room should mean its not a big issue.
We'll see how we go with him being in his own room once we finally get the move process completed!

Well we put her in her cot bed last night and it was an almost painless transition. A few grizzled but these were mainly her dummy falling out which happens all the time anyway. She was asleep by half past 8 (by asleep I mean properly asleep, no crying or fussing) which is amazing anyway, and she slept through till 4! I felt completely unnecessary curled up on the floor next to her cot...!

Well done Dreemagurl! I have to say that we moved our DD into her own room and cot bed at about 10 weeks. She kept throwing her arms out to her side and waking herself up in her moses basket. The rooms are right next door mind and are so close that a baby monitor is not needed. Best thing we ever did, she slept so much better in her own cot, and we were not woken up by every grunt. If you are worried about her looking too little in her cot you could buy one of the special bolster type cushions specially designed to help babies feel snug (one of the special ones that is not a risk to the baby), just a thought, we used one till DD was about 16 weeks, coupled with a baby sleeping bag.
