don't hate me.

ds2 is sleeping probably 20 hours out of 24. would you worry??

he is sleeping 3 -4 -5 and 6 hour stretches. he's breast fed.

i feel lucky, but am starting to wonder is this too good to be true?

I take it this is viewed as a non- problem!

Hi, I'm new on here and was going to ask the exact same question myself!

6 week old dd is sleeping so much during the day and night that I'm quite worried about her! She's bottle fed.
Our ds never slept this much.

Got her 6 week check on Tuesday so going to ask GP then.

Welcome Trixie! i don't think anyone else is taking us seriously. i can understand, ds didn't sleep through til he was 11 months, i would certainly have hated me then, iyswim.

If the babies are gaining weight and happy, then not a problem, you're just lucky!

WincyEtNightie · 24/01/2011 14:24

My DC slept lots for the first few weeks. I think they "woke up" more around the 5-6 week mark.

In itself I wouldn't worry about such a small baby sleeping a lot but you may want to check in on the BF board regarding regular 4+ hour gaps between feeds in the daytime. I'm assuming you aren't worried about weight gain as you didn't mention it but you may find more frequent daytime feeds would ensure your supply (but I'm not the expert, there are lots on the BF board who are...)

Enjoy your babies. Smile

what the visitor said.
if they are gaining weight well with plenty of wet and dirty nappies then rejoice.

91st centile! I guess the moral of the story is don't look for problems where there aren't any!

Thankyou for the welcome stainesmassif Smile

Thats great that hes doing well. I'll be having dd weighed tomorrow so hopefully she'll also be doing well - she seems bigger to me!

its only natural to worry about them though isn't it? I bet if they were awake all the time we would worry they weren't getting enough sleep!

lilmamma · 26/01/2011 08:53

my dd baby is the same, its not so much ,be greateful, it can be worrying if they go say 8 hours during the night without waking for a feed.

maybe all babies dont need to wake say every 4 hours for a feed.

stainesmassif · 27/01/2011 15:44

serves me right - in the last two days he seems to have lost the ability to nap without my boob in his mouth. am never posting about sleep again.

Dont be daft stainesmassif! My dd has decided to 'wake up' now as well and isn't sleeping as much in the day either!

They are worrisome little troublemakers! Smile
