can I safely swaddle him for overnight at this age? If so how?

He is one of those babies that will only sleep well if held or cosleeping but I did use to swaddle him when little until he started to kick his way out and I felt wasn't a safe solution anymore.

The key this time seems to be he feels secure with his arms held in maybe

Having had no stretches of sleep longer than 2 to 3 hours myself for almost 2 months now I need to help him back into good sleep habits.

Or random thought might an amby nest help?

My DS (15 weeks) won't go in his amby

He's the same as yours, arms and cosleeping only.

So I get kicked every night, and the amby stands there looking lonely...

I'm not sure about the swaddling, but you have my sympathy!

oh really was wondering if throwing money at the problem would help him - well at least you have saved me some cashfor an amby! So Im grateful for that Smile

we swaddled until 5 or 6 months. worked a treat. just buy a bigger sheet and do it up tight.

one night dd cried when we swaddled her and stopped when we undid it, and that was that - we stopped with no issues weaning her off it.

5 months is getting a bit big for an amby I think.

he slept only 25 mins Biscuit

You've got to swaddle quite tight for it to work on some babies, my DS would fight his way out of it. If you google 'woombie' those are quite good; you can get ones that convert into a sleeping bag when they're ready. Try tucking a thin sheet over him so he can't roll over to make the swaddle safer.
