Sleeping bags and toe to toe

Hi all

This is something of a daft question - we're going to be moving DS into his cot in the next couple of weeks. Previously he's been in his moses basket. We've been using sleeping bags for a few weeks now, and because of his length I've not really thought at all about putting him at the bottom of the basket as directed (because he takes it all up!). But now he's going into the cot where there's obviously heaps of room. With sleeping bags, because there are no loose covers to pull up over his head, can I assume we can put him anywhere, rather than worrying about him being at the foot of the cot?

Thanks!

We put our DD at the foot of the cot in her sleeping bag to start with, but she kept managing to wriggle her foot through the bottom bar (whilst it was still in the bag!).

I don't know the 'official' guidelines (some clever MNetter will probably be along later to let you know them!) but my DD was fine in just her sleeping bag in the middle of her cot.

How old is he?
If he's 6 months or thereabouts it won't matter where you put him n the cot initially because he'll start moving around even though I've always put him foot to foot.

My DS usually ends up facing the other way, on his belly with his bum in the air. He's done this since he started rolling around 5 months ish.

He's 12 weeks, so not rolling yet. Before he got too long, he did have a habit of somehow wiggling his way to the top of the moses basket - strong legs! I've ordered an AirWrap bumper thingy and won't start with the cot until it arrives, so I guess if he does move around he won't hurt himself. Thanks for the replies!

Afaik, one of the main points of a sleeping bag is that the baby can't wriggle down, therefore no need to put them down to sleep at the end of the cot
