Somebody please help me am sooooo very tired. My lil girl is very nearly 2yrs old shes always had a set routine
8am breakfast

9pm hours sleep

12pm lunch

2pm snack

5pm din

6pm bath
followed by story milk bed at 645pm

She used to then wake up at about 630-7am but now for well over a week has been waking up at 5 am and wont go back to sleep im pregnant and can handle 630 even 6am but not 5 am. I know her back teeth have been driving her a lil mad but its not all down to that i dont think. She has recently potty trained too but the 5am wake up started before then. Has anyone else had similar troubles?

Logially, it is the hours sleep at 9am, she is waking early because she knows she is going back to sleep then. I'm amazed she still has a morning nap to be honest.

However, sayign the logic bit, my ds is also an early riser and actually, there is no logic to it (whenever is there?) For me, I just have to ride it out for a week or so and it just gets phased out until the next time he decides he wants fun at 5am. He normally wakes around 6am and I have finally got him to at least lie there with me for half an hour (I am pregnant too) but when he was 2, no chance it was he's up, mummy up (DH works away). Some of the things i have tried that might work for you;

I have tried putting him to bed later for a week but that didn't really work long time he just ended up being tired.

I have tried the glo-clock which was great for a while then the novelty wore off and I figured, if he is wide awake, it is not his fault so I didnt want to make him stay in his room.

Finally, if nothig works the best way I have of coping with it, is to lie in bed and read books together at least it doesn't involve getting up.

i find she still needed the sleep as otherwise she gets really tired round dinner time. However we are now going to try taking it away and see if that helps. Have reduced it first today she was up at 5am i let her have half and hours sleep instead of an hour and put her to bed at 7pm. Shes very tired to say the least. We'll see what happens tmos, when she finally manages to lay in till a reasonable time i'll try taking it away completely. It's not uncommon for a child of her age to have a sleep however i used to work in a nursary with 2 and a half to 4 yr olds and some of them still slept in the afternoon just depends on the child. What is a glo clock? sounds interesting...
thankyou for your advice im hoping to at least get her to sleep till 6 am :-)

oh no it wasn't the fact she still had a nap it was more the time of day that I thought was unusual but I don't have much experience outside my own 1!

A glo clock is one that you set for a certain time to go from a star night picture to a sun wake up time one - so you would set it for 6 and say that she needs to go back to sleep or stay i bed until the sun comes up - it worked for a couple of weeks but then the novelty wore off for me - it was pretty expensive for what it is as well.

Hi,

Yeah is an odd time of day for a sleep has kinda worked out like that cause she gets up so early and then gets grumpy and tired so needs to lay back down. I shorten her sleep to 30mins changed dinner to 530 and we put her to bed at 7pm. She then got up at 6am this morn yay, have done the same today but shes very tired poor lil girl shall see what time she gets up tmos may just take a couple of days for her to get used to otherwise we'll switch round again. Have ordered a glo clock think its a good idea and well worth a try thankyou :-)
