How much is too much?

DD (11 months) has always been that rare strange creature who is a wonderful sleeper. Settled herself from the word go, 12 hours from 6 weeks and started doing 14 hours from 6 months. (between 6 weeks and 6 month she has only woken up on 3 nights for about 10mins). This week she has taken it to a whole new level of sleeping! She has started to crawl (at speed!) and cruise the furniture, she must be knackering herself because by 5pm her thumb is in her mouth.

I have been bathing her at 5pm and giving her a milk feed and putting her to bed instead of 6.30pm. Expecting her to wake up earlier, but no, she is now sleeping until between 9am and 9.30am! Not even crying when she wakes up, I just hear her chatting to her toys! She must be starving surely!? Sould I be worried? or waking her earlier?

Wow! Does she nap much during the day? my DS 5 months does up to 13 hours at night but naps in the day are rubbish so i assume he just prefers to sleep at night.

I wouldn't wake her up though as long as she is happy and healthy and putting on weight i'm sure it's fine!

She usually has half an hour in the morning and an hour in the afternoon, depending what we are up to. Doesn't seem to make any difference to her if she misses her day time sleep or not though.

Let her sleep :-) My DD (admittedly now a 2.5 year old toddler) sleeps super long when she's going through a momentous growth spurt and always has. Also she was always a terrific napper and night sleeper when little (I had to hide this fact from other NCT mums at the time) and she's still a terrific sleeper (no more naps though). I always feel guilty having to wake her up at 6.45am so we can all get ready for work/childminder.

Interestingly my DD has been sleeping super deeply and super long for the past month and it's coincided with a massive growth and development spurt - I had to buy her new clothes and shoes.

Leave her be and let her sleep.

Funny you should say that, she is going through a massive growth spurt just now. She is was pretty small and is suddenly now into 6-9 month clothes (and they fit with little room) having been in 3-6 month for ages.

Most Mums talk about lack of sleep or at least disturbed sleep when growth spurts are going on? I keep my mouth firmly shut about her sleeping habits in real life for fear of being lynched!
