WON'T SLEEP ANYWHERE BUT IN HER COT!

Hi! My DD is 9 months and has NEVER slept anywhere but in her cot. this makes it hard when we go out for the day, as she has 2 naps a day; 1 in the morning,1 at lunchtime. The trouble now is, we're going away for the weekend & she needs to sleep in her travel cot (which she's never done ) We tried her in it last night but she screamed! Any tips for transferring her smoothly?

No idea im afraid.... my dd is 14 months and still refuses most sleeps unless she is in her cot!

Hope someone else can help.

How about using taking the sheets and blankets off her normal cot (which have been used for a day or two so the smell is familiar). We did this with dd when we used her travel cot for the first time, not sure if it helped, but she did go down ok in it. We also made sure that the room was very dark, so hopefully she couldn't really tell she was in something different, especially if she woke in the night.

Good luck!

We had and still have the same problem with 18mth old ds2. When we went on hols the hotel had a travel cot similar to his and he sleeps in a sleeping bag so we took that.

At night we put him the cot drew the curtains, switched off the light and hid behind the bed. After a longer time than usual he did eventually fall asleep. He did miss out on daytime naps, but when he was exhausted he nodded off.

Thanx you lot! YOU'VE FILLED ME WITH LOADSA CONFIDENCE!!
No,really.. thanx for your replies. Actually, I tried it today & she slept at lunchtime o.k in it. I'm gonna try getting her to sleep in it in the day, and when we've mastered that we'll move onto nightimes. Daytime crying is easier to cope with afterall....?
