dts are 3 months old. they nap for about 2 hours at a time in slings or arms, but are simply too heavy now to keep that up. i'm trying to get them to nap in cots by rocking to sleep, then lying them down.

works but they wake up 30 m8ns later grumpy and still tired, how do I help them go back to sllep? have tried shush pat but they just get more upset

Around 3 months my DS stopped sleeping longer than 45 mins which was a pain, unless in the sling but even that was sporadic. It wasn't until he was 10 months that he slept consistenly longer in the cot.

Can you try bouncy chairs (baby bjorn ones are good although expensive. Maybe secondhand?) or take them out in the pushchair for some naps?

You could try resettling by picking them up and cuddling - I found that more effective. Sshh patting seemed to annoy DS! although just patting on the bum sometimes helped.

argh! I'm not ready for 30 minute naps yet! More importantly, it seems neither are they, as they wake up so tired and grumpy, and happily do 2 hours in a sling. I'm picking up and cuddling till they're calm and sleepy again, then putting them back down and rocking their bums. does seem to work, but it seems more like 2 or 3 short naps than 1 good long one. still, it's progress :)
