Grobags for tiny babies (2 weeks)?

Although only two weeks old our baby is strong enough to pull her blankets out even when tucked in tight and she doesn't really like being swaddled. Is it too young for grobags? She is 3.5kg more or less so not too small.

I wouldn't as hospital said wait. However, put her in one and see how she looks. As long as you are sure she couldn't possibly wriggle down then go for it

MerinoKids do a NB-3 month grobag which is small. It's expensive, but we got given one as a gift. It's been great as DS (now 9 weeks) hated being swaddled and the 0-6m Gro company grobags we have swamp him. We started using it about 4-5 weeks (when I remembered we had it! Blush ) and it's great. Makes it so easy putting him down after the middle of the night feeds.

Here's the one I mean..

Newborn sleeping bag

I think the 0-6 month grobag is suitable for babies over a certain weight; can't remember what exactly, but it says on the packaging. I think it's 8 lbs something. So your DD might be fine.

Our DS was 3.6 kg (8 lbs 6 oz) when he was born and he's been in grobags since almost the beginning. He was born in the hottest week of the year, so slept with nothing on him for the first couple of weeks, but after that was in a grobag. DS also hated being swaddled, and we have found the grobag to be totally brilliant for him.

Our DD moved into growbags at about that age (I think, it's a bit hazy now). The grobag ones have extra poppers to pull the chest area tight on smaller babies. DD only ever needed these done up on one side as she was already too big for both to be done up when we got the grobags. As londonmackem says the main thing is that she can't wriggle down, it doesn't matter if there is lots of space at the bottom. We bought some grobag ones as the other brand 0-6 month ones we had were too short fairly quickly (and DD isn't 4 months yet).

BTW T K Maxx often sell grobag-brand grobags at massive discount -- worth looking out for.

We used one with ds from pretty much day 1, I can't remember what make, but it was fairly snug around the neck/chest so he couldn't slide down into it.

He was a major blanket-kicker and would then get cold, so it was a godsend.

With my second child I used sleeping bags from day one and she was fine.

I got them from Mothercare - they had poppers to make sure they fitted newborns. She met the weight requirements (I think it was 7.5 lbs).
