Do toys give baby nightmares and cause waking?

Bit of a strange one this..... My ds is 4 month old and is our first. We bought him a tiger teddy at weekend with our own recorded message in it "mummy and daddy love you" He played with it monday... monday night he woke at 10.30pm, 1.00am amd 4.30am crying but wasnt hungry. Tuesday didn't play with it and slept through. Wednesday played with it, woke again at 2.30 am and 4.30am crying. Thurs didnt play with it and slept through again as he normally does. May sound strange but now we are wondering wether the teddy is scaring him and wondered if anyone else has experienced this?????

I can't really answer your question but I'm sure babies have nightmares as mine definitely did. I could tell because he doesn't cry much normally, and sometimes he would whimper in his sleep and then suddenly cry out really loud.
He's got to be dreaming about something from his own little world - who knows what it could be?
Sometimes overstimulation can disturb babies sleep patterns too. Perhaps the toy is too stimulating for him? Does he play with it for long?

sounds like it could be a bit much for him, what about toys that don't have mummy and daddy's voice coming out of their stitched on mouths?

I am in no doubt of your good intentions but that would scare the bejeezus out of me and I'm 38.

Lol - I think it would freak me too. DD was given a glow worm that played music when it was cuddled. She loved it until we put it in her cot, and then everytime she lay on it in the night, she sobbed hysterically. Took the worm away and all was fine.

Think she may be a bit little to understand the toy. It is a bit freaky, if you think about it. My ds is 2 and loves a teddy his cousins gave him for his birthday that has their voices when you press the tummy - but I think at two it's less scary.

The teddy has now been banished and we've had two nights of solid sleep so it must have been that! I suppose it is freaky that a tiger has mummy n daddys voice, never really thought of that! Thanks!
