I have just had my first baby, she is 3 and a half weeks old and she wont go down in her mosses basket at all. she is sleeping in the bed but I'm worried about squashing her or over heating and I find it really uncomfortable. the only over place she will sleep is in her car seat, is that ok to leave her in her car seat over night?

No it's not. Co-sleeping is fine & perfectly safe though. Sone else will come along with better advice soon I expect. It's still early days, but pretty hideous!

I have the same problem. My 13 week old never sleeps unless in my arms or co-sleeping. Try to put her down but she just wakes. End up picking her up as breast feeding every 2 hours so I don't get much rest. The positive side tho is she will sleep from 8 - 2 most nights. Sorry to hijack but I felt the same at 3 weeks. Think some just like to be kept closer than others.

Unfortunately it's not safe for her to sleep in a carseat all night. The curved position is bad for her spine and if her head falls forward it could block her airways.

There are ways to co-sleep safely, see this leaftlet for more information.

I bring my DD into bed with me when she wakes for her feeds and keep her above the covers in a baby sleeping bag so that she doesn't overheat or fall under the covers. I also have a bed guard to stop DD falling out of bed. DH has sadly been relegated to the guest bed until she grows out of night waking.

Stay positive it's still early days and she will sleep more easily as she gets older.

What we did was to allow DS to fall asleep in the bed with us, then transfer him once asleep. If he woke up again we would repeat the process until he was asleep in his basket. It didn't take long until he would sleep in his basket without having to fall asleep with us first.

Have you tried swaddling? My DD used to fall asleep in my arms then as soon as her head hit the moses basket matress her eyes would snap open. To stop this I used to swaddle her in a sheet then BF her to sleep, when she dropped off into a deep sleep and unlatched by herself I was able to transfer her into her cot.
