CC for early waking? Wake to sleep?

Despite amazing recent improvements in DD's sleep, I'm still finding a 5 am start to the day very difficult. So is she, as she is much happier if she wakes later. I would tolerate 6am and be delighted with 6.30. She goes to sleep at 7pm or just before.

Co-sleeping does not work for her or I would willingly take her into my bed at 5am. She just tosses and turns, cries and moans. Always has done in our bed. We did CC a few weeks ago which made drastic and immediate improvements to bed time and sleeping through the night. Should I try this for the early wake up as well? Night weaned from bf recently. I offered her milk in a cup this morning (she loves milk of any kind) but she threw it at me, so guess she's not really hungry.

Any thoughts? Thank you.

Highly unethical, but back when you could give Medised to babies, I used to wake DS up at 4am, give him a small spoon of Medised which then knocked him out until 7am. I would only have to do this about 3 nights before his sleeping pattern changed and he slept through.

Mmmm. Can't really do that! Glad it worked for you!

Joking aside, I would try waking to sleep (without the medised!), I could never face cc.

How old is she? Could it be she's cold or teething? DS has been going through this recently and has in the pasts. It's usually something like that or a sleep regression.

Are you serious Marion?

She's 16 mo. Having a little break from teething I think. She may be waking up a bit cold. I'll try another layer. She is sleeping much better than previously, in general, so not sure it is a regression this time.

DS is nearly 15 months and has been waking up early - 5ish. He doesn't seem to want to wake up, so have been treating it like a night waking, saying "night night" to him and giving him a BF. Sometimes he'll pass wind Hmm but mostly he goes back to sleep fairly quickly after a cuddle. His sleep has improved since the cold snap stopped - I think he was cold as well! So he's in three layers (sleeveless vest, long sleeved vest plus pyjamas) in a 2.5 grobag. His room is usually around 19C.

We've been on many a sleep thread together before, Iggly! I agree, DD doesn't want to wake up either. If I sat and held her she would sleep for another few hours but will not let me put her in her cot. If only she would co sleep! I tried CC this morning, as that is what worked for us at bedtime in the end. She slept again from about 4.20-5am then just couldn't. Didn't get very upset though. Maybe it's the Christmas excitement (excess sugar!).
