Hi all,

I just wondered what the average amount of naps length and frequency is for a 9 week old baby who sleeps well at night.

Thanks.

I was just wondering this (my DS is 7 weeks), the last couple of days he has been up for the day at 8.30am, napped at 10-11.30am, 1-2.30pm and 4-5.30pm, bed at 8.30pm (ISH). All these timings are a bit ISH really and they aren't the result of me trying to get him into a routine, jsut following his tired cues (I think??) but I was a bit worried he seemed to be asleep for too much of the day, but he just seems grumpy if not napping this much, and it doesnt seem to effect his nighttime sleeping.

He is bf and wakes at roughly 2am and 6am for feeds during the night (lucky me I know I know).

Does this sound normal to anyone?? God, I am kicking myself even typing this cos I know every baby is different, but you can't help but question yourself can you?

Also, should I just let him sleep as long as he likes knowing he will wake when hungry or should I be waking him from his naps?

What does your baby do NoTea?

Generally I found that my ds needed a sleep after about 1hr 15 or 1hr 30 mins of being awake, and naps could last anywhere from 20 mins to 2 hours.

My DS is 8 weeks and hardly sleeps in the day - he has on nap which is usually 2-3 hours long and that's about it. He has little catnaps straight after a feed - I'm breastfeeding, so he falls asleep on me, but if I put him down he is instantly awake. He sleeps 8/9 hours a night, and I wish he would sleep more in the day, but that's all he'll do. If I try and put him down awake he lies there grinning at me and kicking until he gets bored and cries. He will sleep more if he goes in the pram or car, but never if we're just in the house.
