dd waking up soaking wet every night! Nappy advice please!

Poor dd is 10 mo and recently has been waking up in the middle of the night soaking wet from leaking nappy. We have to change all her clothes and she gets all cold and bothered and then takes ages to settle again - understandably! It's so annoying because she had been sleeping really well and I don't think she'd be waking if it wasn't for this.

I don't think its that the nappy is full - it seems to leak at the front and she sleeps on her belly. We've tried lots of brands, and different sizes. Any advice? Has anyone else had this problem and if so what worked?

? less milk ? bigger size

aliceinlalaland · 06/12/2010 17:03

Hmm, yes we usually had this when DD was in a size too small. So yeah, bigger size I guess. Also, I found pampers active fit were the ones that went the longest for us.

Bambo nappies get through the night no probs, well worth the money for nights. I think you can get trial packs on this link. Otherwise ring them up and ask, they are very helpful.

This happened to us when DD started to sleep on her front too. I found going up a size really helped. Also, I found Pampers to be the worst. Try Tesco or Sainsbury's own brands as we have had no leaks since with either of these.

Cheers. Any other tips appreciated.

Hello. I had my little girl soaked every night even after changing her at 11pm and 3am when feeding. she would be wet sometimes already both feeds. I was advised tescos own and they really work. She is 17 weeks old and i leave can leave those on all night and she is still dry. i have the midi purple packet. good luck

jinglesticks · 07/12/2010 15:21

Thanks - I'll give tescos a try. We used to use those actually but then we moved house away from tescos and that's about when the trouble started... hmmmm....

Things that helped us were:

  • Moving from Pampers brand (to Huggies, though other brands are better too - you have to try them out)
  • Going up a size or even two just for night time
  • Reducing the amount of milk/fluid drunk before bedtime
devilsadvocaat · 07/12/2010 16:13

we use a bigger size nappy for bedtime!

LovingKent · 07/12/2010 20:22

Had the same problem with DS at 9 months

Went up a size just at bedtime - we found Pampers Baby Dry to be best, Huggies were terrible leakers but different brands seem to fit different babies.

Check the elastic of the legs is out and not folded in

We also lowered the nappy so make sure most of it was underneath (looks like more of a hipster!)

We got a couple of small packs of different brands and worked our way through them - cheaper than buying a big pack then finding they don't suit.

Haven't bothered to reduce fluid as not sure that's relevant - amount DS has varies.

Hope you find a solution soon - horrible when that happens

Nappy liners.

They look a bit like huge sanitary towels, and are aimed at re-useable nappies, but they really soak up the wee.

You can get them from boots.

megonthemoon · 07/12/2010 20:27

Wrap for reusable nappy over the top to contain leaks?

gladis · 07/12/2010 20:55

My ds leaks when I use Huggies, but Pampers always dry.

Strange isn't it

snownelly · 08/12/2010 20:32

My DS's nappy somtimes leak if a bit loose on the leg - make sure you have got nappy pulled up and done up as much as you comfortably can. Also bigger size will absorb more. FWIW I use tesco for daytime & huggies/pampers at night Xmas Smile

LooL00 · 09/12/2010 10:27

Maybe try pullups as the absorbent bit is in a different place. Boots nappies(green pack) are good by the way.

jinglesticks · 09/12/2010 21:02

Thanks so much for all the suggestions. I bought some of the purple tesco's ones in a big size and we had no leaks last night and she slept all the way through for the first time in ages! I hope it wasn't just a coincidence!

Cheers
