LO was great, slept through from 7-6,30 every night until about 2 months ago. Then a combination of starting with a CM, teething and colds meant lots of disturbed nights and milk, cuddles and eventually being in bed with us (which we always completely avoided before). The actual problems have gone but we are now left with a DS who has got used to the attention and being in with us ( I would always put him back in his cot once he was really asleep but if we did before he'd just yell). It took three hours last night for him to really settle. What the hell we do? I am not averse to controlled crying and use it sometimes for his nap (in that I let him cry for 5-10 mins until he goes quiet - I don;t actually know what the official routine of it is) but its harder when he is bawling in the wee small hours). Any suggestions gratefully received!

A bit more physical execise before bedtime routine starts - dancing of cold out; swimming late pm/early eve; running up and down?

Speak with health visitor or download a sleep routine chart from somewhere to actually realistically log what is happening and at what time, then talk it through with someone?

Is he walking yet?

trixie123 · 22/11/2010 19:13

he is walking in the house but seems reluctant to try outside. we have actually just had two full nights sleep but he is full of cold now so who knows what that will do. He has a favourite game just now after his bath of flinging himself around on the bed in a sort of chase me game that lasts as long as we let it before wrestling his pjs on so thats a bit of exercise! He does tend to do most of his very active stuff earlier in the day cos thats when the classes are scheduled. thanks for the ideas nonanny.
