to soothe overtired babies, i just took my dd2 (5 1/2 months) out in the car to settle her and it worked in 5 mins.........then she woke up when I tried to take her out of the carseat! She is tired today from lack of sleep last night caused by really stuffy nose and not being able to bf or suck her thumb because of it. Starting to really lose the will to live. Do you think the hoover or hairdryer is worth a try. Thouight I'd ask before doing it incase it's known to upset them more or something

white noise I think, and it used to work a treat for ds1 when he was tiny.

have you tried some saline drops to soften the mucus and help it out? really recommend getting a nasal aspirator too. sold in babies r us.

alux · 18/09/2005 21:14

i was out of saline drops once and in desperate need made some up with cool boiled water and the tiniest pinch of salt incase you would like to try it tonight.

Both mine went off to the sound of the tumble drier if that's any help? Poor you and dd2 - hope she feels better soon.

tried hoover, car again, hairdryer, tearing my own hair out, accidently dropping and smashing my fave mug she's still awake and I'm still losing the will to live

whispering ok now I'm not getting excited but I put her in her cot to come and post that last message on here and ...................silence has spread through the house. I'm going to wait another wee while before I check that she hasn't got her leg and/or arm stuck out of the side of the cot or no blankets on but she may actually be asleep he he he he he

doing cartwheels...........very quietly

We used the Sims/Simcity for dd, sitting on dh's jiggly knee - she was a nightmare to get to sleep, but the music (and jiggling) seemed to help. She wasn't a thumbsucker, but I remember similar problems for ds (who was) when he had colds. I tried the nasal aspirator thing (sort of sucks out the bogies) did't seem to do very much! We used a lot of Expulin, and Carvol everywhere - oh and we were advised to prop his cot up on telephone directories. I hope she sleeps well tonight, I remember the desperation well!

not if it's the blooming neighbour and his crashing and banging and hoovering wakes DT1 up causing her to scream it doesn't!!!!!!!!!!!

Can you tell I'm a wee bit annoyed?

My monotone voice always did the trick I used to read normally then get slower and slower and in one tone.
