My 12 wk old ds has recently started waking at about 4am every morning and staying awake until brought downstairs, where he usually then falls asleep in his bouncer by about 5am and will sleep until around 7am.

I've tried bringing him in2 bed with me and DP, tried leaving him hoping that he will nod off in his moses basket but he just starts to cry after about 5 - 10 mins.

He goes to bed at 7.30 after bath and feed and goes down pretty much straight away with his dummy. He sleeps in a sleepsuit and sleeping bag and we have a gro-egg room thermometer which has been saying the temp has been around 19 - 21 degrees, so I dont think he's warm or cold.

He usually naps for about 4 hours throughout the day. Its so frustrating and Dp nd I are becoming increasingly sleeep deprived.

Any thoughts or suggestions greatly appreciated xx

I forgot to mention, he wakes at around 2 ish for a feed and goes straight back down afterwards.

He's a very healthy 15 pounds and is very smiley at 4am, little sausage!!

Have you thought about putting him in a cot rather than the moses basket?

We did this with DD at about 11/12 weeks & she slept that little bit longer to make it feel as though she was waking in the day & not the middle of the night!

Also, we moved her into her own room at that age too...we thought maybe we were disturbing her sleep as much as she was disturbing ours.

Cant just yet as we have a slight damp problem in his room which should be getting sorted in the next 2 weeks, hopefully. Will give it a go then.

Do you give him a dummy? I was in the same situation as you, although my daughter wasn't crying, more just ready for a chat, and I just got up time and again, put her dummy back in her mouth, said 'night night' and got back into bed.

The first night I think I did it about 15 times, but very few times in the following nights and now she never wakes at all (22 weeks)
