4 month sleep regression? Help!

Is it real? I had never heard of it but I think LO is in it. Is BF and was only doing 2 wakings a night, hit 15 weeks and now waking every 2 flaming hours at night! I BF him back to sleep. His soaking in the morning due to the amount of milk he has consumed. Prior to this his nappy would hold out really well.

Will it get better on its own or will I have to do something> Help!

hate to say it but I think its real :(

DD went from BF to sleep and waking maybe once, to waking 3/4 times, refusing to be transferred to cot at all, multiple early evening wakings (all BF back to sleep which took ages).

This lasted from 13 weeks til 23 weeks and the only way it changed for us was actually to stop the BF to sleep and used baby whisperer pick up put down to help her self settle so if she did wake, she didn't automatically call for me. Hopefully for you it won't last as long....

Nothing helpful I'm afraid - just sympathy! DD is 14 weeks and has suddenly gone from waking once or twice (in "our" night) to waking after only an hour's sleep! By the time I've fed her and waited for her to be properly asleep (she can't resettle herself if she wakes up), I'm only getting 30 minute blocks of sleep every 1.5 hrs and am exhausted.

So have been co-sleeping which seems to help us all get more sleep - not sure if she's waking less or if I'm just not noticing as much. But don't want to do this long-term so not sure what to do to change things.

Someone did say to me today that perhaps she's waking because she's cold (and co-sleeping she is presumably warmer), now that the temp has dropped at night, so I'm going to try more layers tonight just in case.

Hope someone has some useful advice!

Thanks for replies. beancounting - it could be a cold issue. DS is in 2.5 grobag, vest and sleepsuit but it does get chilly in our room.

I am hoping for a better night but not thinking I will get one!

Hope it gets better for us all soon!

Scarlet - how long did it take for PUPD to work?

well the first night it took 40 mins to get her to sleep in the cot (picking up/putting down etc) but then she slept from 7pm til 3am, had a feed then slept til 7am. DH put her to bed, I BF her at 3 and noticed a difference straight away, she took her feed, I waited for her breathing to slow but not dead asleep then I put her straight back in cot. She sighed flapped her arms.... and went back to sleep :)

So in that respect it worked straight away. We saw improvement over the first week, then had a crap week due to teething we think and now takes about 20 mins for DH to get her to sleep. Now if I have to put her to bed (DH usually does it now) I always end up giving her BF, if I try to PU she wriggles down to boob area and cries, but even with this I can put her down sleepy and she will still only wake maximum of twice, usually once.

so strictly speaking we are not following the baby whisperers rules, but its working for us.hope this helps..
