When does an evening routine become important??

DD is 10 weeks old today, daytime has fallen into a flexible routine but evenings are still pretty random.

She's not fussy, colicy or clingy and hasn't cluster fed for a month so evenings are easy. She'll happily spend time under her play arch or in the bouncy chair so DH and I can eat together and sleeps through anything so we don't have to turn off the tv/lights.

We all go to bed sometime between 10 and 12, she'll go down in her cot after a feed with minimal fuss and sleeps for 6 hours before waking for a feed.

I'm happy to go with the flow but worry that we should be following rules now to lay foundations for when she's a toddler and I'm back at work.

I'll also confess that I like our evening cuddles.........

Sounds like it's working for you at the moment.I think about 4 months is a good time.
My DS is 5 months but our bedtime routine is pretty quick! The main thing being his last feed is in his room with the lights off and his mobile on regardless of whether he's had a bath or not.

Thanks Mumcah, most of my parenting decisions are based on laziness so I wonder if I should be doing more.....
