dropping the final nap?

oh god please say it ain't so!

We're having real problems with DS (2 at the end of the month) going down for his nap. He's generally needed his midday nap around 11am (though sometimes doesn't by 12 in which case I give him lunch then pop him down) and sleeps 1.5-2 hours.

Recently he's been showing no tired signs until well after lunch and screaming blue murder when I do try to put him down. We've always had a decent enough nap routine in reading a few books, playing music, kisses and cuddles then he has his dummy and goes down but it's now 1:50pm and I've just left him for the umpteenth time...is this him starting to want to drop the nap?

About to play at being single parent for 3 months, don't think I can cope yet without that break in the middle of the day!

He's still sleeping 11.5hours at night and randomly had a 3.5hour nap on Sunday...we're not on any kind of strict routine (except bedtime which we're pushing back a little at the moment), just follow his signs

My DD stopped dropped her last nap at 22 months, she started to wake earlier in the mornings & not go down as easy at night so I started to have an hour in the day when we would have quiet time (so at least her body would rest) We'd have a cuddle on the sofa with a snack & she would watch TV & I could read a magazine. Mind you it's not so easy when you have more than one child or playing single parent & you need that time to run around & get everything done. Maybe if you kept him awake he would go to bed earlier & you could catch up with jobs/have some 'ME' time at the end of the day?

DS dropped his at 19 months but still has one at the childminders Envy

upside is, for a while he would go to bed at 7pm and wake at 9/10am!! That's stopped now though Sad

Will he do "quiet time". For my DD, who dropped all naps around 2 years old, quiet time = CBeebies time for half an hour. Failing that then it's play time for her but she can't ask mummy to play with her. She knows this now because I've been consistent in enforcing it and she plays by herself during quiet time (after lunch) while I have a quiet coffee/chill. But I needed to be consistent with it.

well he went down today at 11am for 2 hours and the last few days even if it's been a late nap has still done 2 hours and his night time sleep is still 11.5 hours so am hoping he's just pushing it back or something rather than dropping it
