Can a seahorse solve our sleep issues?

Our dd (8 months) started sleeping through a month ago, after a bit of help from us. Hallelujah, etc.

Now she has started waking up at 5.15am every day, and while I'm happy she's sleeping 10 hours or more, and don't want to have unrealistic expectations, I really don't like dragging myself out of bed at that hour.

We've tried offering water and using our usual night time soothing methods, to no avail. I end up feeding her and getting her up for the day at 6am. Coupled with her penchant for 40 minute power naps, we end up with some quite bizarre daytime sleep schedules and a very tired little lady by bedtime.

I've heard about a Fisher Price soothing seahorse cuddly toy thing that apparently helps to soothe babies to sleep/back to sleep. And is apparently miraculous. It's called the Glow and Soothe Seahorse.

It's £12.99 which seems reasonable. But I don't want to buy one if it's a lost cause and we've just got an early riser on our hands. Anyone tried it with a baby this age, to combat early rising?

What time does she go down for her first nap explodingbosoms?
I've found that sometimes trying to make sure dd goes 2 hrs plus in the morning before her first nap can help the waking time the next morning.

On the soothing toy think I found that past 4/5 months anything with noise and lights made dd's sleep worse if anything.

we have one of those and it doesn't help DD to get to sleep - she's almost 7 months.

Just recently she has been doing this thing where she wakes 45 mins after we put her to bed and wont go back to sleep. I have tried the seahorse at this time to see if it works and it definitely doesn't. It makes her worse and more hyper really. Sorry!

We have one too and I'm afraid it hasn't yet helped ds who's six months, get off to sleep. Whenever we turn it on in the dark, he starts stretching out for it to play with. Its a nice toy though and he does really like it!

Ah, I see. Am glad I asked for advice! She is a baby who likes to go to sleep in her cot, in the dark and quiet etc. So maybe the noise and lights would just stimulate her. I am always flabbergasted when I see babies just dropping off in the middle of baby massage or whatever.

pommedeterre, she goes for a nap around 8.15-8.30am. I've just been reading on another link about pushing back the morning nap so they don't use it to sort of extend their nighttime sleep. But she's already going for 3 hours ish between waking and nap, so I'm not sure...?
