How long before you give up? He's been crying now for over a hour and is exhausted but still won't give up. Dp won't let me near him, say's we have to stick with it. I'm tearing my hair out!

ok - so you want the truth???

are you sure???

really?????

DS1 (at 6 months old - first night only) went for 2hrs 52 minutes before finally falling asleep . We did 2, 5, 10 and then 20 minute intervals and it was only the bottle of wine (yes a whole one ) that helped me get through it.

Good news is he didn't even wake that night, the following night took just 45 minutes, and the 3rd night 10 minutes. After that he spent about 2 weeks crying for 5 minutes, which then went to about 10 seconds as we walked out the door.

Oh that sounds grim but that's the kind of truth I need so thanks. Make me feel a bit better, IYSWIM.. They didn't hate you in the morning did they QoQ?

I have a horrible fantasy of him turing away from me when I go in in the morning. We have tried everything up to this point and CC was a last resort.

No not at all - although he was quite grumpy (tired I guess) the following day. and it was very tempting to let him just sleep more during the day - but we stuck to his normal nap times.

Mind you - I was BF'ing at the time - and before he ate breakfast he always had some so not much chance of him ignoring me.

He's a little sweetheart this morning!

He was up twice in the night but went back down easily enough.

glad to here the night went well.

If you want it to work quicker in the evenings though I'm afraid you'll have to do it during the day too [frown]

It should still work in the evenings might just take a couple more nights
