is it possible to wean bubs off the booby at night (dad put to bed do bath and story etc) but still feed to sleep for naps without confusing DD?

Last night for the first time EVER DD spent whole night in cot (she is 5 months and we have ended up co-sleeping but hubby is not comfy with this) after DH did pick up put down with her, sang her a song and she was asleep by herself in cot after 45 mins, prior to this we have been feeding to sleep downstairs which could take 90 mins minimum, then sneaking her in the cot...

BUT trying to do PU/PD for naps has been a disaster :(

she basically does not end up getting a nap, screams hysterically etc and this morning I ended up feeding to sleep. I know night time sleep is very different to daytime- will this confuse her??

It was heaven having our bed back and DH is happy to do bed routine every night...

From what I've read about naps, they don't relate to nighttime sleep (except in terms of whether the baby is overtired or not). It's thought they are governed by different parts of the brain.
I worried about this when I wanted to put DD in a cot to sleep and put her down sleepy-but-awake (after a feed).
After a couple of days, she more-or-less accepts the routine.
But not for naps.

So no, I wouldn't worry! I don't think they're related and shouldn't confuse her.

I do it the other way around.

No feeding to sleep for daytime naps. I don't mind a bit of crying during the day. I have a little lullaby machine that plays for 10 mins. I will go up once it stops playing if he is still crying but tbh 9 times out of 10 he stops within the 10 mins.

But at 16 months I am still feeding him to sleep and then popping him in his cot asleep at bedtime.

thanks ladies!

I guess I will just have to see how it goes and if she sleeps in cot again tonight. Cece I could see us feeding her to sleep forever but she really started freaking out when she woke up in a different room in the dark about a month ago, plus it was taking ages, some nights 2 hours which made me think we could be spending the time at least trying to get her to sleep in the cot. I will give naps a try in a week or so.... the night time thing is more important to resolve right now anyway, I never realised how badly I slept with her in the bed til I had a blissful night without her last night...
