Amby Nest and night clothes

Hello, I've bought an Amby Nest for my baby to sleep in and I'm wondering about the best things for the baby to be in for sleep. It does not recommend swaddling and I'm worried that the baby will be cold. I've been looking online for fleecy sleepsuits and cannot find anything decent for a newborn. Is there anything anyone can recommend thats worked for them?

I have vests, cotton sleepsuits, hats, mittens etc at the moment.

Many thanks

Do you mean that the literature that came with the amby specifically says don't swaddle? If so, then, oops, that's news to me. I swaddled my babies at first when in the amby, with just a sleepsuit underneath (although I suppose you might want a vest ias well depending on temperature).

At about 12 weeks I moved to gro-bags and followed the clothing advice that comes with them - usually this just meant a long-sleeved vest. Definitely no hats, though, whatever type of bed you use as the baby risks overheating.

I also swaddled with my Amby (and in fact still do with my 7 month old). I did read the 'no-swaddling' recommendation, but DD needed the extra snug-ness and it wasn't a problem.

Great- thank you both so much for replying- yes I did mean the actual literature that comes with the Amby Nest. I was worried as for the first 8 weeks both birth the house we're in is not the warmest and I'll have the heating on. but the lack of ability to swaddle etc was (probably hormonally irrationally Smile) worrying me. I reckon the recommendation may come from the fact that the baby's movements help create the gentle bounce and swaddling stops that, however, the baby may feel more secure being swaddled. I say all this, but apparently as a baby I hated being swaddled, so I'l play it by ear!

I have bought some velour sleepsuits now from MC. Thank you for the advice about hats I assumed they would need a hat [clueless mother-to-be emoticon].

I have an amby and just used blankets first then a sleeping bag.

Yeah I wouldn't put a hat and mittens on as this does risk overheating. They don't need to be that warm - lots of babies seem overdressed to me. Feel the back of the neck rather than the feet and hands to see if they are cold (as the feet and hands are usually cool to touch).

I too was worried about swaddling so just used blankets for the first couple of months and then a sleeping bag. They are a bit of a faff but the mattress is quite narrow so it's fairly easy to tuck the blankets in. It's quite an enclosed environment, which sort of makes up for the lack of swaddling. We had a sleep positioner which was quite helpful too.

O yeah I had the sleep positioner too. It was fab and stopped me worrying about her.

Thank you Smile I've got a sleep positioner and I feel much more content having seen your replies that blankets will be fine.
