HI
I have a 16mth who still needs two sleeps a day around 10am and 2pm. We tried dropping the am one and moving the pm one forward but he just kept falling asleep if we went anywhere in the morning. Should he still be on 2 sleeps. He sleeps from around 7pm till 6/7am!
Thanks

Mine both went to one sleep around that age. DS is 20m and now has one sleep straight after lunch but until about a month ago it was a late morning nap, he would go down 1130ish.

But he has a longer/better nap now he is going on a full tummy after lunch. I only moved it to after dinner because he was fighting it off late morning, plus he would wake too soon because of hunger.

I guess if he's falling asleep then he still needs both?
My dd had the same as your ds until she was 17months and stayed with my mum for 2 wks when I was in hospital. She was so excited to be with gramma that she wouldn't sleep in the morning but was exhausted by lunch, so mum brought lunch forward to 11.30 and she napped from 12 til 2pm. After a few weeks I could jiggle lunchtime back and nap time to 12.30 or 1pm.

both mine went to 1 nap around 11 months. I think its common to have 2 naps up till about 18 months

All babies are different. DS1 was quick to drop naps (finishing at just over two - oh hell that was!), DS2 napped until he was four, DS3 - too early to say! I think the average is around 16 months though but if he needs two naps a day, let him have two naps. I know it is a pain though when you want to get out and about! Perhaps some days he'll have one, some days two for a while until he just needs one a day.

Mine is coming up to 15 months and just gone down to one. We're having an early lunch and then he's normally down by 12.30. Hope I'm not jinxing myself but lengthening the time between wake up and the nap has made a huge difference on his first wake up time - he used to be up at 6am on 2 naps but at the moment he's sleeping 7pm til 7.30-8am!!!! Thought it would never happen!!

Also, whilst we were making the transition to 1 nap, we brought bedtime earlier for a while, eg 6-6.30pm, so he could cope ok with it. But some babies just need more sleep than others I think.

Here's some info you might find useful.

Baby routines

According to these articles one nap occurs any time between 15 and 20 months. If you're getting all that night sleep and 2 day time naps, then all I can say is I'm very jealous!
