Duvet for DD's new toddler bed

I'm moving DD (22months) out of her cot into a toddler bed soon, but am wondering what size & tog duvet to get her - any suggestions?

Last winter her room was around 19deg which felt bloody freezing to me, but she was happy enough in her PJs & a 2.5tog sleeping bag.

I had a look on mothercare (the extent of my research so far) & they only do duvets in "cot bed" (120x150) or "single" (135x200) sizes - I was thinking about getting the "single" one & tucking the end under the mattress in the hope that it would help keep the duvet on the bed! - do you think that would work?

advice please!

DD always just had a single bed size duvet and cover on her bed. As DD gets very warm easily we got the lowest tog we could find.

What size is the toddler bed?

Most of them are quite short, so a cotbed one woulf be fine. DS has an ikea one which is quite long, so have got a single duvet on it. It's a pig to make the bed, but he's nice and snug in it.

He's got a 4tog on at the moment and in the cooler bedroom, and he's fine in short sleeved pj top and long bottoms. I think it'll be fine over the winter with PJs on. We'll just chuck a blanket (or the old cot quilt) over him when it's really cold.

Lunatic-do you have a link? I searched like mad in our nearest one and couldn't find that size.

We got a cotbed one from mothercare, youngest is now 8 so it was a while ago! but im sure they still do them, they also did covers matching all the nursery 'themes'

If you want to keep the duvet on the bed the grobag duvet sets are perfect and will stop her rolling out too.

They are £££ though, but there might be some on ebay?

My DD went into a bed at 22mo with one of those and currently has a summer duvet and has been fine.

Argos do a toddler bed set with quilt, quilt cover, pillow and pillow case. Chose from either Peppa Pig or Disney Princess. Pae 792 of Autumn/Winter Cat.

the toddler bed is 70x140, so the cot bed one would fit.
I'm a bit worried that she's going to wriggle the duvet off her & if I get the bigger one I can tuck it in better!

We just got an IKEA 4.5 tog single duvet and tuck the end and one side under the matress. Works fine and keeps the covers in place. Love the IKEA duvet covers too, so bright and funky (and unisex!)

IMoveTheStars · 30/08/2010 21:04

Oh thanks lunatic, that looks like cot size though. (Ikea cotbeds are small I think)

cheers anyway :)

My youngest has a cot bed quilt on her cot bed. Every night I tuck it into the bottom of the bed and within 1/2 hour it is all untucked.

She does sleep through though and I think the cover being a bit smaaler allows her to regulate her temperature a bit more than being totally tucked in. She will recover herself if cold.

I got everything for her from Dunelm Mill and ran a Night Garden single cduvet round to fit her cot bed quilt as there isn't a massive choice.
