Room temperature/baby temperature

Until last night DD (4 months) has been sleeping in her cot in our bedroom where the temperature has been a fairly consistent 21 degrees. She's tended to spend half the night in her cot before joining me (the 4 month sleep thing making me too tired to do anything other than bring her in with me to make her sleep).

Anyway, she's always felt just right temperature-wise. Last night she went into her own bedroom and I was trying to train myself to leave her in her cot. The temperature in her room was 19 degrees and she was wearing a sleepsuit and in a sleeping bag. She woke for a feed (BF) at 12:30 and she went back down well enough. At 3:30 she woke again and her hands and face were freezing cold - still 19 degrees in her room. I of course used this as an excuse to get her into bed with me (not in sleeping bag though) so I could warm her up.

I get really paranoid about her temperature and the room temperature; I worry that I've over or under dressed her somehow.

Any ideas?

All I can suggest is they say not to gauge temp using their hands as they are always colder than the body.
Put your hand on her chest to see how hot/cold she feels.

Also on the grobag website if you look under togs they have a chart which tells you what they should be wearing in their sleeping bags at different temps which I found quite useful.

18 degrees is supposed to be optimum room temp so Im sure shes fine in a sleepsuit and sleeping bag.
Is it a 2.5 tog?

it is normal for their hands and face to be cold. pop your hand down the front of her sleeping bag or at the nape of her neck she will be toaty warm.
i am a bit parinoid about the temperature and now religiously follow the clothibg guide that came with ds grobags. it has made me less anxious.

Thanks for the grobag website tip. I know you shouldn't judge their temperature by hands and feet - I suppose I just panicked because they were like ice. It's like DH said to me - she must have been ok because she slept better than she has for ages - just call me a neurotic mother :)

MW told us at the antenatal class i was at last week that room temp should be between 16-18 degrees. I believe that's from FSID.

I remember feeling the same way about DS's hands but I'm sure it's normal. If she's cold you'll know about it - and being too hot is much riskier.
