A 3 Year Old Who Only Needs 9 Hours Sleep?

DH stopped needing a daytime sleep just after her second birthday. Admittedly she does (sometimes) sleep in the car if we go somewhere during the day, but doesn't every child? The key factor for me is that generally she does not become a nightmare before bed due to lack of sleep etc. doesn't get grumpy - just extra cheeky.
However, lately she has wanted to go to be later and later and for instance we went on holiday (driving), she slept from 6.30-7pm, then woke up and chatted non stop until 11.30pm.
We have problems with her staying in bed (she goes at about 7.30/8pm and is up at 6.30am). Once I've managed to persuade her not to keep coming downstairs she plays in her room until about 9, sometimes later.
Is this normal for a bouncy 3 year old? Should I be giving her extra exercise during the day?
I have visions of a 6 year old that goes to bed at 10 and I don't want lose time with DH so soon! Smile

Sounds like my three year old
as long as she stays in her room i don't mind really
she does tend to lie in though which is a pain when we need to get her older brother to school or get her to nursery on the days i work
